Real Property Identification Hardcopy Mapbook

Welcome to the Real Property Identification Map Book. The book is published annually by Arlington County's GIS Mapping Center for the Department of Real Estate Assessments. The Map Book is a compilation from recorded plats and is NOT a legal document. The GIS Mapping Center strives to make the Map Book an accurate and complete representation of Arlington County's real property.

The Map Book contains real property information generated by the Department of Real Estate Assessments, and zoning information generated by the Zoning Office of the Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development. These departments are considered the data owners, whereas the mapping services are provided by GIS Mapping Center. If errors are found, please report them to the appropriate agency.

The Map Book consists of nearly 487 individual 11" by 17" map sheets, at a scale of one inch equals 100 feet. All map sheets are up-to-date to January 1, of the year published. The new book is usually available by mid June.

Real Property Identification CD ROM Mapbook

The GIS Mapping Center prints an annual Map Book, and now that same book is available on compact disk, in portable document format, or PDF. All the same information is available, only in a format that can be viewed on your computer screen and printed as needed. Even though Arlington County is not that large at about 26 square miles, the hard-copy map book is published on nearly 500 sheets of 11” by 17” paper, at a scale of 1 inch to 100 feet. The price of this book can change as the price of printing increases.

This product includes the entire Map Book – 487 pages - on one CD for only $125. Both the hardcopy Map Book and Map Book CD show property boundaries, street names, property addresses and an identifying number for each property called an RPC, or Real Property Code. The Tax Maps also show zoning classifications and historic districts, and subdivision boundaries. The Map Book CD offers greater flexibility. Besides not needing the desk space for the large map book, you can insert this CD into your computer and simply open the PDF file. Then you can easily navigate right to your map sheet using the bookmarks.

The same index maps are included as in the hard-copy book, and once you look up your map sheet number, a single click on that number will take you right to the sheet you want. You can even print out the map sheet. Just remember, the files are formatted the same as the big book, on an 11”x17” sheet.
